'La Caricature' Plate 134, No 66; A satire showing Louis Philippe, seen from the back, holding a baby and showing him to the populace; the mother, Freedom, lies on a bed, looking upset; they are surrounded by political figures, including Guizot clutching the forceps, Casimir Périer standing by his side, Athalin dressed as an officer and carrying the announcements at right, Dupin in a magistrate gown, Lobau carrying an enema, and in the centre foreground Thiers, leading a rooster away.

The print depicts the birth of the 'juste milieu', the political compromise which is credited with having guided the July Monarchy of Louis-Philippe. This print is a parody of 'The birth of Henri IV', from a painting by Eugène Devéria.
